Well ive been playing on this epiphone stock amp for the last year and its really losing its sound i think or iam just that shitty on the guitar lol. Do you think its the amp? I played in guitar center and it sounded completely different. Its a Epiphone studio 105 amp, smallish. http://en.woodbrass.com/images/woodb...AL+2+EBONY.JPG a year on it. |

Well, you have to look at it this way. It's a 6 inch speaker @ 19 watts, SS. That amp is not going to deliver much depending on the Genre you play. It's an okay practice amp, but with a 6" speaker?..I may be wrong here, but I think you have out grown what this amp is doing for you. And you have to also take into account that the speaker may not be as tight as it used to be when it was new and is losing some of the edge it used to have, hence playing a new one in GC would sound better, especially if you are using a different guitar. I can't comment on your skills as a guitarist because I have nothing from you to compare anything to what you've done, so I'll stay out of that.

I concur with Keith, I have a VOX DA-15 modeler I use at home for messing around. That 8 in. speaker doesn't move enough air to be heard even at moderate levels just across the fence in my neighbors yard. It may have a bit more whistles and bells than yours, but it's basically 15 ss watts pushing a tiny 8 in speaker of dubious birth. I also have a DA-5, even smaller with a 6.5 inch speaker. It's strictly a practice tool, you can't even jam effectively with it. Something else to take into account, no matter what you hear in the store, it will always be different at home, or the park, or the jam because each setting you play in is different acoustically. You may be in a dead zone for the amp. In the end, your ears may just be tired of the amp and you will need a new sonic fix to realize it. |
