Why do people use full-stacks when they use the PA system anyway?

In big concerts and stuff, why do people buy big Valve Full-stacks even though they just Mic their amp and let the Non-Valve PA system do the rest? What would be the point in spending loads of money on Stacks even though it's too loud for practise, and not loud enough for HUGE concerts?

Well then what about this "Quest for the perfect tone" if you just throw away your tone on a PA system?

I'll never tie of related the story of an early modeling amp, that was used by the bands in an all-day guitar store opening. Every band used at least some gear that was for sale at the guitar store. At the end of the day, everyone wanted to know about the one amp that was used all day. A bunch of bands used it, and it pumped out everything from Steve Vai shred to AC/DC to Papa Roach nu metal stuff.

It turned out to be a Rocktron modeling amp that no one had ever heard of. Everyone there immediately called that amp a piece of trash and rejected that amp.

Me? I am a bit smarter and a whole lot less than a bigot. I bought the amp!

The point is that looks mean NOTHING. Sound is EVERYTHING.

Very true. Amps are not supposed to do anything more than sound good. Who cares what they look like? I have never in my life seen a pretty amp. They're all the same macho crap: leather, gold/diamond plate. blah. When they make a pink amp with crystals instead of the digits around knobs it better fucking sound good cuz Ima buy it.

Yeah, but that's because you're a chick. They already made something for you, and that's Twilight movies and books. Amps are mostly for dudes.

You might like the expensive as hell H&K amps. They look really nice lol. Cost a little to much.

Twilight is for retarded aborted children of suburban families, sorry I don't buy it. And these "dudes"... does having a big amp make them feel better about the size of their junk? See the difference is, when I want something bigger I can just go get them enlarged. "Dudes" on the other hand have to buy loud cars and motorcycles, have huge amps and fat shiny guitars just because they feel insecure about their dicks.

See, they made Twilight for the chicks, and diamond-plate amps for the dudes, and the rest of us are sort of on our own, aren't we?

They don't make pink amps for chicks like you, or small amps with serious features for guys like me... and if they made a small amp with tons of features and painted it pick, I'd buy it. My manhood is secure enough to tolerate funny colors.
