Yay! Boss CS-3 (Compression) Boss MT-2 (Heavey metal Distortion) Boss OS-2 (Distortion/Overdrive) Ok, so i just got these pedals for my Birthday today () and they are.......AWESOME!!! I can play practically any genre of music with these! And if i need effects i just use the amp effects And you may be thinking why i got 2 distortion type pedals, but it's because they were great deal - Really cheap, but it was only those 3 pedals that were cheap so i got them. Off Ebay btw. One problem....There's a big buzzing when I try to mute the strings, but when i play something, the sound of the notes either drown out the sound of the buzzing or just stop the buzzing. Me and my dad tried to earth it but it didn't work, I've considered the Boss NS-2 (Noise Suppressor) to get rid of the buzzing but I've got the feeling that it will colour the sound too much. So umm.....Wtf do i do? lol! And if i haven't said this before in the forums, I'm still stuck with my crappy amp because my dad is convinced it's good enough ![]() That 300w Mosfet is too faulty so i still don't use that, I'd really like a nice amp but it's always the dad that gets in the way.

You have compression, distortion, and Overdrive in a chain. None of them are true bypass and all create a lot of noise, a suppressor may be in your future. Then again, buzzing as opposed to hissing says your on track with an open ground somewhere, or a ground loop. These pedals are also victim of flourescent lights, TVs, Home entertainment systems which create magnetic fields the pedals can pick up on.

By nature, Distortion, Boost and Compression pedals carry a bit to a lot of hissing noise as the norm. As you dial up any of them, the Hissing noise increases. If your using single coils such as a strat, it's even worse because it's compounded by the 60 cycle hum of the pickups. Before buying another pedal such as a noise suppressor, try dialing back the tone, gain, volume knobs a bit. If you have them dimed because you like strong distortion, it's invarialby going to make noise. Normally, unless plugged in with a power supply, pedals themselves don't create BUZZ. Buzz is created by an open ground such as using a ground lift to plug in a three prong plug into an two prong socket in the wall. Just try dialing back all of the pedals a bit to see if that effects the buzz. Compression is really bad about hissing if it is applied too liberally. Boss pedals are notorious hissers. Didn't you start a bunch of different threads where people told you that you were going to have problems if you tried to run a bunch of pedals in front of a $100 battery powered amp, and that you should save your money and buy a new amp? Now that you did the opposite of what was suggested to you, you're having the exact sort of problems that you were told you would have, and now you want more advice? Go re-read the advice people gave you in these previous threads: Is my Amp good enough? How do you get A tone without much distortion, but still got a ballsy sound. If you run one pedal by itself, does it buzz? Are you using batteries or power from the wall? If you remove the pedals, plug your guitar in the amp and turn the amp loud, does it still buzz at all? Are you patch cables cheap or high quality ground shielded cables? What about your guitar cable. Does it have shielding material inside? You live in England right? Are you using transformers to go from 220 volts, down to 110 volts, and then on down to 9 volts? I used to buy American pedals when I lived in Germany. When I stepped them down from 220 to 9 volts they hummed and buzzed like hell. What kind of guitar do you have? ( Brand Name? / Single or double coil pickups? ) |
