I strung up my Epi LP and SG with 11's that I bought a month or so ago finally. The SG's action was a little too low, this this brought it right up there were I like it. The LP had to be lowered about 3/4's a turn each at the saddle. Other than that, I am pleased with them both. It wasn't nearly as much a difference to fret going from 10s to 11s that I worried about. My second project was to replace the strings on that crappy Floyd Rose brand guitar. I had already put P-90s in it and added a tone knob. This thing comes equipped with the speed loader system for string change. Two of the pockets were stuck. Ended up having to use a hammer and a screwdriver to knock them free so that the ends would come out. After that, everything was as quick as advertised. It had been 2 months since the last string change, so I did have to make tuning adjustments with the allen wrench to get them in to range of the fine tuners. Still using 10's on it. At $13 a set, I'll use what I already had waiting. And finally, the accoustic. It's a Taylor 214. I had gone form 13s to 12s and down to 11s in efforts to make it more playable. I bought a pack of 12s yesterday and went to work on the graphite saddle. Went through a long series of detuning, remove, sand, replace, retune and measure. I've got it to "specs" at the 12th fret...that being 6/64th. It was close to 8/64th when I started this back in April. I decided yesterday that I was going to cure it once and for all. I also had to grind done the groove a bit on my nut. Just the low e string. All else was fine.

| I've got it. I didn't do anything to it this weekend. I was actually going to PM you to find out what guage strings you use on yours. You've probably said so before, but my memory is toast due to the meds.

I'm quite sure that it has 10's on it now. I was thinking of trying 11s to see if it'd somehow drive the body top more...kind of like a heavier guage on a straight acoustic would do (in theory). Have you heard anyone doing something like this?

like i said .010s and .011s are the most popular. the heavier the string the better the tone. now with my .007s i get my tone back thru some circuit modding and my amp. jimmy

Mast when I get the time, will photograph a nifty little tool I discovered for altering nut depth without breaking the bank.
