I don't plan on replacing the pickups anytime soon. I am just simply searching for a different sound other the the warmness of mahogany based and humbucking Gibson style instruments. A little bit of money put into these guitars can really help their sound, as I have already learned by example. Even if I bought a MIM Fender, I'd probably end up making the same adjustments as I would to a Squier.

Hey Joe (no pun intended)...you could never make me heated and despite what others may or may not think, you are one of the most level headed guys here

I completely agree with you. I know that many people are constantly trying to keep people from making the same mistakes they did. However, in the end whatever makes you happy will make you want to be a better player. So ultimately the decision is his and we can only try and convince him of what we would do.

Of course I have no freaking Idea what I would do. I am still all over the board on what kind of guitar I would want..... I just need about $11,000 so I can get an SG, LP, Tele, 335, Jem, and a Clapton signature.

Bro... I have $3000+ worth of guitars here, and I could STILL spend another $10000 on guitars tomorrow!
