Just joined and thought I best introduce myself. Played in the usual rock bands as a teenager and early 20's to enable me to study and survive. Have been playing for over 40 years ![]() Tragically I kept my guitars locked and under the bed for much too long. I usually only play acoustic these days, although I enjoy most types of music, especially 60's (you had to be there) I collect stringed instruments, although nothing much to brag about since I sold my Epiphone Casino when I got married (not one of my smartest moves). I have in fact regretted every guitar I ever sold, so now I almost never sell them.Oh yeah, I suffer an affliction, I play left handed. |

Welcome to the site Dusty..... The other guitar player in my band is a Lefty....He's always going on about this guitar company called Southpaw guitars. They only make left handed guitars and charge extra for a right handed guitar...Same way all the other companies charge extra for a left handed one. Check 'em out if you've never heard of them....

I've always wondered why natural rightys don't fret with that hand- seems to make more sense to me since the fretting hand seems to be doing most of the hard work. Anyway, welcome to the forum Dusty. Lotsa cool people here, and a nice place just to hang.

Welcome to the forum dusty! Glad to have you around. That's a good question Slim. I can remember one of the first times I ever picked up and played on a guitar. I was probably 6 or so. Never had anybody show me how to hold it or anything, but it, for some reason, felt natural to fret with my left hand and pick with my right hand. Even though I had to set it on my lap rather than hold it properly, because it was too big for me. |
