Well, after a long wait, here it is... the first track for the Jam Clinic, courtesy of Schmange. http://s93744050.onlinehome.us/MP3s3...hmange_320.mp3 ©2009 K. Taylor / Schmange Music U.K. / Canada All Rights Reserved. International Rights Secured SOCAN/ASCAP Here's what Schmange had to say about it, "It's pretty much just D Major and Bb Major all the way through. Although the first 3/4 of the song lends itself more to minor leads while the end part changes into a more major type of key." So, how would you approach this? What do you hear, in your head, being played over it? How would you achieve what you hear? Feel free to post your own recorded take on the song, whether it be full blown lead or some added rhythm. Then, we can discuss what you played. Have fun!!!! |

Wow, this is a hard one for me. Listened to it 3 times before I picked up my guitar. The percussion grabbed me first, so I was just playing some palm muted, staccato kind of stuff to go along with the percussion. Then around 1:30, when things got sorta...symphonic...I was kind of in the B minor "box" but it still sounded kind of major-ish to me. Was playing through my Micro-cube with modeled effects, so I decided to throw in a lot of reverb and tremolo effects, to maybe fit it into the electronica kind of vibe I'm feeling right now. But soloing over it was a bitch for me...I'm kinda hearing arpeggiated sweeps in my head, but can't really play without practice. But I'm really only coming up with single notes to complement what going already. Tried to harmonize the melodic theme going on in the background too, but making everything fit...well, it's not. Right now, I don't think I have the groove for it. But I'm thinking also that an Eric Johnson kinda guitar tone may fit. I dunno, I'll have to come back to this. Sometimes it's better to leave certain things alone. For now, I'm subtracting by adding anything to it.

I've got a few ideas. I'll see if I can't have something posted in a few days. Killer track.

I was thinking of chicken pickin as a goof; if you can pull that off, cowboy, I'll bow down to you as the master. I was thinking this was kinda up Smith's alley....

| I'll take suggestions from anyone. Right now, I'm just trying to get a feel. Thinking gets in my way (and often gets me into trouble). I need to wake up first...late night last night..
