Have any of you ever used one of these:

NSD Powerball

It mentions guitarists, alongside various other musicians. The thing is, I'm highly unlikely to ever be playing two hour sets - I'm learning the guitar as an extra string to my acting career's bow - but I would like to strengthen myself up a bit.

Many years ago, I used a fancy gizmo with a bunch of springs in it. Gripmaster, I think it was called.

You don't need anything that fancy.

I use a stress ball now. Its like a small balloon filled with sand. The key is to squeeze it with your fingertips while your hand is held up like it would be while you're playing.

Yeah, I've got one and it definitely gives your wrist and forearm a major workout. If you're into really fast, extended tapping or shredding, it builds up your stamina in just the right muscles.

My only complaint about it is the instructions for it say that you can start it up by just rolling it on something or flicking it with your thumb. I've tried it dozens of times and no matter what I do I can't get it going without the little string it came with. And I'm always misplacing the string so I pick the ball up, try to get it going... can't find the string... then don't have the energy to waste time looking for it so I put back down again. Most of the time the thing ends us sitting unused cause I can't find the string.

Might as well pick one up then - they're not expensive. How long do you exercise with it each day, and do you exercise both hands, or just the fretting hand?

I hate exercise so much I've seriously thought about building a home studio around my couch.
Sometimes lifting the guitar and sitting upright in front of a computer is just way too much work.
I just need some kind of stand to attach the guitar to the couch...put the monitor on the floor and use a wireless keyboard... then get a small fridge for munchies and beer... a microwave on top of it and storage space inside the couch for food.. then a long hose leading to the toilet.
