Default Metallica on blu ray.

Ok, so last night I watched Metallica's first live blu ray. And I had very mixed feelings. The initial reaction was "omg they're so old!!". Then I realized that James's face was not meant to be shown in HD. Ever. And lastly, that was probably one of the most boring concerts I've ever seen. Playing the same shit they played 30 years ago. I think now would be the best time for them to retire and save face, lest they become another Ozzy (an ex-legend who's now a laughing stock). 30 years is long enough, they earned the title of the world's most famous metal band, what more can you achieve? People should really know when it's their time to say "I've achieved everything in this field, it's time to retire".

Thoughts?

Say what you want, In The Glare of Burning Churches is a great title. And a great concept.

Try telling them that,i mean i suppose it dont matter how successful you become you still want to,and enjoy doing your thing ?.You could look at it another way as they still want to get out there and give it some even though they dont have to financial wise.

that's the thing about them, I never know if they do it because they like it, or is it just about making more money.

Right...now there is this thing about them with what your saying, but did it maybe come from this,

Quote:
METALLICA rocker LARS ULRICH has hit out at claims the band's lawsuit against music download site Napster was about money. The band filed a suit against Napster in 2000, after the service hosted the group's copyright-protected material - a demo of their track I Disappear - without prior consent.
I have to admit i think they could have let this slide. The point where ever this was on principal or something like taking money away from the artists, can be argued from a moral perspective, depending which way you feel about it.

Ask yourself are they passionate about what they do ?,do you think the albums they made were a money making exercise, maybe in the vain of all those manufactured bands you see these days ?.....dunno,i think they put some serious effort into what they do.

I agree with that, but then again, once I saw the Some Kind of Monster documentary I realized that Metallica is no longer a band, it's a business. It's a money making machine.

Metallica lost my respect with the Load and Reload albums. Apart from a couple of tracks they sucked

Then with Napster, Some Kind Of Monster and St Anger I began to wonder if they'd dissapeared up their own collective butts

I'll retire when I'm dead, not when someone else decides it time to.

Are you kidding, Load is when they became listenable.

If you think James looks old, I'm guessing that you've never seen the Rolling Stones in HD ?
They make Clint Eastwood look like a young pup.
Back to the retirement thing , I don't think any successful band will retire unless they get to the point where they can't play their instruments anymore.
When it's all you know and ever done , letting it go is really difficult.
