Default Black Sabbath for the youngins

There was some talk of Sabbath in a couple of my posts recently. So I just wanted to share one of my favorite albums. It's not a Sabbath album per se. It's a tribute album, with alot of well known metal bands from the 90's. The songs are the same but with a bit more punch behind them.

One of my favorite tracks was War Pigs with Faith No More. At one point instead of the lyrics he just says blah, blah, blah.....blah, blah, blah, blaaaah. A solid listen for people who like Sabbath but wish they kicked a little more ass.

Black Sabbath taught me a valuable tool... The Devils Conjure, or the Devils Third, those three notes played by Iommi at the opening to Black Sabbath. In medieval times, it was considered Blasphemous and punishable by the inquisition to play them or write them in any music.. anything that scary should be learned, rat now!!! ;-)

I will have to check this new stuff out. I like really great reinterpretations of older classics..

Wasn't that from the first album, Parralax? I just looked it up on youtube. Man, I haven't heard that tune in a million years.

Gald to be of service JB (if it was the one started by Sixstringcadence about the metallica bluray)

I really like the opening string bends to Iron Man, I just sounds so...whats the word?...medieval but in a metal way

Snowblind is another of my fave's, as is Warpigs and Fairies Wear Boots.

I twigged the fingering for the opening riff to Snowblind the other week. Basically its an E shape bar chord arpeggiated at the 5th (G?) then the 7th (A?) fret.

I dont condone the blatent substance abuse that influenced the music, buts you got to admit it is f'kin good, even now.

Yep, played in dropped C. I still scare myself when I fool around with it....;-) You can do a fair faxcimile of it in dropped D at the normal A barre position too..
