1975 Ibanez please some info?

Hello All,

This is my first post. I joined to post pictures and ask for info about my friend's guitar. When he finished his tour with the Army in 1975 he bought the guitar from a friend who was purchasing a new one. My friend does not remember the exact price but he thinks he bought it for a couple hundred. He rocked on with the guitar for many years, then set it down. Recently he asked me to check his guitar because he wanted to play again. New strings and I cleaned it up. This guitar Rocks!!!! I then wanted to find out more about it.
The serial #J752166. The 2166th guitar made in October 1975? Can anyone help with a history for this guitar? The interesting thing is that it has a mustache head stock. Even more interesting are the pick ups. Can anyone please identify the pickups? Thank you for any and all help. Rock On!

Steve

You have to have a minimum number of posts before you can upload pictures---helps keep people from treating the forum like google!

Not much to tell without pictures and just the serial number ;)

What's maybe interesting is the fact that 1975 was the year where Ibanez introduced original models like the Artist, Iceman or the Roadstar. Before they were basically building copies of Gibson or Fender models, what led to the lawsuit affair with Gibson.

The fact that you state a ''moustache'' (or open book) headstock lets me think that this guitar is one of the lawsuit models - as Gibson especially filed Ibanez for using this particular Gibson headstock design ;)

Thank you. I understand the google reference. I will check out the site. Going to continue posting as you said. My current guitar is a Telecaster with humbuckers. It sings rock n roll.

And yes that is the headstock but with silver pegs.

Thanks, I just sent a message to you and then checked my sent messages and it was not there. I was also unable to attach any pictures. Guess I will await the 15 or more posts needed to have attachment privileges and I guess also message privileges.
All cool. I just posted a question in the effects forum.
Rock On!!!!!
