Question Ibanez TMB300 Talman Bass

Is this a good bass? $299. Is there a better for that price or less?
(Probably just more idle curiosity on my part.)

Thanks,

I typically don't like the feel of Ibanez basses but I generally presume that they make quality instruments for the price.

Any used Fenders or Squires in your area?

Not buying Rondo anymore?

This one is $60 and there are several for about $100. Squires.

Still got my eye on the vintage green SX. Mostly killing time.

Jim, that green would make me run in the opposite direction. Surf green I love but seaweed green I do not.

*I used to do this all the time and it got expensive*
Looks like something with a 9volt battery in it. Guess I would go for the blue one.

"Is this a good bass?"

Well, let's consider what you're getting for $299. This bass, from what I see, includes block inlays, a sparkle finish, a bound neck, and a rugged input jack plate. If you like the sound of "Music Man" style pickups, then this bass is routed for one, even if you don't like the one that's in it. Those are some fairly impressive features for a bass costing $299. I doubt you'll find anything better in that price range. Since it's a cheap bass, the pickups are likely to be cheap, and the hardware is likely to be substandard. However, considering that you could change all of that out later for roughly $300, you could likely turn this bass into one that would have all the flair of a bass costing $1000 or more for a mere $600 total. Sounds like an excellent deal to me.
