As an engineer I'm sure the next chord you will want to learn will be "B" and then "C", etc.

Thank goodness.... Being and Engineer, you've had at least one Physics class. Now you'll be able to sort out the BS on the technical issues. Everyone has there own idea about what they like to hear and like to play, so pick out what you want to play and focus on Technique and Music Theory in order to get there. I'm also 72 and have been playing for about 50 years. The guitar is very challenging but also very satisfying. Have fun.
