Hi Dale, welcome in. Be sure and post some pictures of your build. Everybody would love to see them. Someday I would like to try my hands at building a guitar from scratch. Right now I'm been building a couple partscasters.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I'll try to post some pics as I build it- hopefully it will happen. As of now it is just my soundboard that I have built. I would like to use mahogany for the sides and back; I have a decent amount of nice mahogany in 1 inch thickness. As of now i'm in the process of trying to have our local lumberyard saw it thinner, as I don't really want to waste 3/4 of an inch by planing it off. Here is the link to the thread iv'e started: sorry I just realized I can't post url's until I have 15 posts. (It's in the diy thread area) until I have m My main obstacle right now is trying to figure out how I will bend the sides. I'm hoping my Rosewood slotted fingerboard will come tomorrow so I can begin working on the neck.

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I will try to keep you all updated! Dale

Do a search on "HOT PIPE WOOD BENDING". A lot of Luthiers use that method but it can be very tricky. You are going to have to make a jig to hold the sides in place until the bends set. Lots of luck.

Welcome Dale. Looking forward to seeing your build also.

What part of California? I spent most of my life in Northern Cal.

Thanks for the reply, Cobalt! I live in Modesto, which is about an hour south of Stockton. I will do the best I can on my build, as of now this is my first attempt; I hope it works. I will probably be posting a new thread in the diy area about it...I will try to keep you all updated. Thanks again, Dale
