I just got a new volume pedal the boss 500h to the end of my chain. I possibly should have went for the 500l I don't know from going what was said .
Yes it changed my tone - all the talk is lack of top end but I must admit a tweak of my preamp treble/mid and I was happy.
I I would like to compare a buffer but why gamble and spend the cash when I am happy with what I get at the moment .

Ah, yes, I tend to go through phases when it comes to the forum, depends how much time I have and how "inspired" I am :P

Receiving a couple of new pedals from a new local pedal maker was good motivation heheh.

Indeed,

For me, Stage = wireless + fart mfx + fart amp. It's less about achieving the perfect tone than it is about a single trip from the van. I'm far less concerned with "great tone" and more concerned with "not horrible yet still workable tone".

I keep the real stuff for studio and fidelity gigs. I'm just too old to carry an AC30 in one arm and a JMP50 in the other. Also, once you go wireless on stage (which compromises tone), you'll never want to go back. It's a pretty profound change.

I believe volume pedals are notorious for negatively affecting your tone, that's why I forked out for a modded FV-500 that is supposed to be completely transparent.

But I do agree with you, if it aint broke don't fix it.

I was unsure as to whether I would need/want a buffer too which is why it took me so long to get one, I was lucky enough to receive the one I did for review so no loss better still it turned out that it was a missing piece to my signal as I did struggle sometimes with something not being quite right with my tone, the buffer seems to have rectified it.

Someone should offer a pedal trial service :P
Where you can essential rent pedals to try them out and find what you want.

Or I guess you could always buy second hand and sell them on if you don't like/need them. The only problem with that is I'd end up hourding them I think

I thing the wave of the future will be MFX boards, or things like Axe, but there'll always be the market for those that want "vintgage" this, or that. Technology has come a long way. I'm an old timer, but I do like technology, and the advantages it can bring.

I actually had mfx for years over the past several I have went to separates.
Like Kamak though I take in minimal stuff and nothing too heavy. My mesa boogie is in my music room and staying there lol.
I go wireless too and once again I agree the thought of having a lead - nope I couldn't go back .
