Static electricity. I have a Projet also. My remedy that works is to run a common dryer sheet over the pickguard. It removes the static electricity that is causing this issue. It will return in a few weeks, just do it again. Much easier than doing mechanical changes to the guitar. While speaking of Projets, I assume your Bigsby is less than perfect as was mine. I string OVER the down tension bar, and I ordered and installed a $10 buck Reverend Soft spring. NOW it warbles and vibratos like a champ.

The dryer sheet will shed a bit on the guitar but it wipes off easy just collects dust at a higher rate than normal, always have one on hand when I play. Thin fiberglass picks and carpet combined with dry air make static build up, snap, crackle , and pop.
