Default DigiTech Bad Monkey Mod!

Well yesterday I decided to rip open the Bad Monkey and throw the wench in to the idea of modding it.

I read up here and there and found there are a few things that can yield a slight tone effect so I started with the first one.

I simply removed the C5 capacitor on the board and ti actually help it quite a bit. I may venture into locating some more caps to try to tweak it some more in the future.

It did improve the tone enough I can now use it again with my Laney. Before the MOD it would suck the tone out of my signal and thinned the sound out so bad there wasn't any point in using it at all.

I can at least set it now and engage the pedal and not here any drops.

I think it is the same concept here. It is the C5 on the Digitech board that is removed and others have also replaced it with .1uf etc to help additionally. There are a few others in there that can be altered as well to tweak.

Pro/Con - Some say's this MOD help others say it ruin the pedals sound. In my case it helped. I never had luck with a DS-1 pedal. Most the time it sounded thin to me. I guess its not my all around tone. I like the heavier Sabbath tones or like some of the Boss Metal pedals offer.
