Default oh joy of joy-ness

that was sarcasm, in case that was too subtle.
so my usual gig is at chez' living room playing along to cds. i've been trying to get a buddy started on guitar, but he's got too many hang ups. so i answered an ad in kijiji, a guy looking to jam with somebody. he listed lots of music i like. so far it seems to be workin out ok. he sings a little too, and we seem to be like-minded about some things.
i put out an ad for a drummer. so far, 2 responses. both flakes. with this many musicians in this town, i figure if i persevere, i'll eventually find one. talking to a bass player this weekend. he's a little young, (35) but if he's cool i don't really care about the age thing. i have a bass also, so i might want to play a song or 2 sometimes. none of this is with the intention of playing out. ever. just a group of guys making music on a saturday, gettin a buzz goin, that sorta thing. i just feel like when i played in a group (early 80's) was when i played at my best. it expanded my abilities. so i wanted to try it again.

Yeah drummers sheesh

Well you found somebody to work with and that's a good start. Keep looking, you'll find more musicians. It can take awhile though.

Count yer blessings. I couldn't find a drummer in this town if I offered a suitcase of cash and a hot-tub date with Katy Perry.

Heck, if you guys are just farting around with no intention of gigging, but a Beat Buddy Pedal and be done with it.. Seriously, some great sounds come from this newish pedal.

It's a drum pedal, but it's not a drum machine. The sounds are realistic and there are many. I'm getting one myself for my own Lanai shows...;-)

every time I try and get a "fun" band...just to get together and play for fun I get two types of people
1) lousy or horrible musicians who are unreliable and flaky
2) excellent musicians who want to play out and make $$...

even if you specify its not for gigging, bands will try and recruit you, or a gun for hire will try and change you from within

the guys who dont want to gig are typically very green or very rusty...and the fun band is the last thing on their list of priorities so for every agreed upon date you get together, there are 10 agreed upon dates that someone cancels or pulls a no show...

its very frustrating...I would just put "to eventually play out" and just ride it out...the guns for hire will get sick of waiting and move on, you replace em, and you have your fun band..
