If anything hurts then rest. Your muscles will strengthen over the next two weeks and calluses form on your fingertips. Then you can play longer, join a band, play Yankee Stadium, etc.

Others say it better than I as I've only been playing for less than 10 years.

Only one suggestion you may wish to consider. Don't stop practicing for at least 30 minutes every day. If you stop, as I did once for a few weeks, I had to go through all that uncomfortable period again while my finger tips developed callouses. Not pleasant.

And it won't be a case of having time to practice. If it matters to you, you will make the time.

Very true. The old adage "once you learn how to ride a bike, you will never forget" is not the same when it comes to playing guitar, and learning your muscles to remember.

If time is taken off while learning, your muscles will forget. Take your time. Make your changes slowly, and keep at it.

The transition from GMaj to CMaj to DMaj to FMaj in natural chordings was really hard for me to do at first, and it took me a good 6 months to make it a natural feel.

D and F chords I struggled with for the longest time, but if I can do it, you can too.

It's great that you are asking questions so early on in your learning, keep going, practice practice practice as they say, it's not an easy instrument to master so loads loose faith and give up early on, but if you get over the hump and get to a stage where the chords are coming flawlessly and the changes are quick and slick, that';s when the fun begins and you can start learning songs and play along with them, then it's onto jamming with others, then you start/join a band, then who knows????

Good luck dude, don't give up, and keep going.....if you have not already found them, 2 guys on utube that I can recommend for free beginner guitar tutorials are Marty Schwartz and Justin Sandercoe, 2 epic guys that got me playing again after years of not playing
