That's awesome tone you are getting out of those guitars. I have a squire I bought with the view of dismantling it and turning it into an SRV1 with a heap of upgrades and some serious distressing as another home project guitar. However that was a couple of years ago now and it's still in one piece and filling in a hole in my guitar armoury quite nicely. I will post up one I recorded on it yesterday in a separate thread. But they are certainly good bang for your buck.

They sure are. That would be a great project. I'm also considering doing that with another Squier, but I still didn't get around to it because all the hardware needed costs a lot. I don't know if you've seen it before, but this is a project I did with another bullet I bought used:

Hey, so I got my hands on another one
My friend lent me his Squier Bullet Mustang, so I did 30 riffs on that, and then I put all 3 of them side by side to compare.

Here's the Mustang by itself:

and here's all 3 of them:

I think by itself the mustang is not bad, but side-by-side it sounds the worst out of the 3 to me. OK, some of the more distorted stuff is better, but clean it's all muffled and dull compared to the other 2. Too bad, I was thinking of getting one for myself just for the shorter scale, but now I don't think I will. Maybe the Vintage modified Jaguar then, has anyone tried one of those?

That's great info,I looked at the mustang. for its short scale. as I have small hands Tried a bullet many years ago. it didn't seem very nice. Also interested in the Jaguar. Not sure about those bridges heard they can be a bit iffy

yeah heard that too, but they supposedly can be changed for better ones, I'm interested in those pickups though
