Default Are you fine living by a Crematorium?

So, we had a series of public hearings for an expansion request of a crematorium business by my house. I didn't know about it until somebody has been sending a card around our neighborhood opposing it. I attended one hearing and gave my opposition speech over environmental safety concerns and the morbidity. I think they should be away from a residential area. I am literally a stone's throw away. I also expressed my view on our community Facebook. Well, a lot of people got irked and seem to be mad at me. They said it would have helped our property taxes.

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't want to, nor would I want to live by a cemetery either. All that stuff creeps me out big time, but a crematorium would really creep me out for sure!

Unless it was going to make smoke or cause traffic issue or look out of place in a residential area, I wouldn't care. I'd be happy living next to a cemetery as well.

Well... I think everything that burns produces pollutants. If you don't see it, they are just made to be too small for the naked eye and pass EPA. But... they are still pollutants.

Here is the crematorium with videos of the opposition claims: https://www.stopvolocrematorium.com/

I mean if there is a legitimate public health concern that should certainly be considered. As far as the morbidity of it, wouldn't bother me at all.

Probably no worse than and actually better than all the cars that may drive down your streets. It's already there, correct? I guess if it was not there I would not really want it built right next door to me but if its already there then I would probably be fine with it.

A cemetery would not bother me either as I have been on many vacations in old towns or even ghost towns and always check out the cemetery. You can learn something about history that way.

The last music store I worked at had one two doors down. There was less smoke than a pile of leaves burning but they ran that thing up to 2000 degrees and it roared like a jet engine. It wasn't running 24/7. Did it bother us? Nope. However, it was in a business district and the closest houses were a block away.

I bet the customers never complained either.

Their customers didn't complain and our customers(most of them) didn't even know it was there.
