It's often hard to say no to someone's face, so I don't have much to lose.

I'll never understand why dental isn't considered "medical" for insurance purposes. People can die from infections, and we get operated on by dentists.
I lose my shit when I see jobs posted that say dental is included. I've only lost my shit like once recently.

oh man you with tooth stuff too eh? Yours is worse than mine.
I had a cracked molar, upper left, tooth kinda broke last summer. No pain, let it go, then a couple weeks ago the whole side broke out. But oddly still no pain. I went in to the dentist, was just going to get it yanked, they talked me into fixing it. So I said OK, last week, went in they started the procedure, now I have a temp cap on waiting or the real cap. But NOW it's been hurting, like once they dicked with it, it got the nerves all lit up. I HATE tooth stuff, I'd rather break a toe then feel tooth pain.

I hope you get yours resolved! You have more patience than me, if this cap has any issues later, I will just get the tooth yanked I can't imagine doing several caps and having it worked on that many times. Egads.

I may have to because the doc's office was closed.

I walked in another dental clinic and had a very tortuous convo with a receptionist regarding my "dental insurance." I don't have a dental insurance card, and I'm not a member of a "union." I'm a member of an "association" where one of the benefits is receiving dental care from dentists that participate. For insurance purposes, we're lumped under something like <non existent entity that isn't a union, but for billing purposes the patient is in this union>.

1.She repeatedly asked for my insurance card.

2.She repeatedly asked what union I'm in.

She repeatedly asked "so you want to make an appt (for tomorrow)? I said, since she said I'm covered, they will get NO payment from me. Then, we'd start at #1. A co-worker said, "call so-and-so; she should know." That person said, yeah, I'm under DC-37. I said, I AM NOT A MEMBER OF ANY FORMAL UNION,AND DEFINITELY NOT A MEMBER OF DC-37 (I always forget what I'm lumped under). See #1.

She wouldn't give me a copy of the HIPAA form, where it clearly states, Patient Acknowledges Receipt of Notice To Patient's Rights (!!!!!!). So I took a picture of it. She said, "you can't do that." I said, yes I can. There was a dentist sitting right there, and I said, "if you're a dentist you should know my rights under HIPAA; can you tell this young lady?" He pretended I wasn't there. So I took a picture of all the forms I filled out, which she objected to.

No one is obligated to sign a HIPAA form to receive care, as we're all covered under HIPAA privacy laws. But it's become standard practice to have patients sign them, because medical practices often sell your information. That's why I read through every HIPAA form, and put a large NO CONSENT through areas that allow them to share my information with "3rd parties not in the medical community."

She took issue with my not writing my SS# out completely. It's not necessary. IF they in fact cover me, other identifying information well, identifies me. Medical offices are one of the biggest source of info for identity thieves to steal your identity (I SHOULD KNOW; DESPITE ALL MY PRECAUTIONS, I'M AN ID THEFT VICTIM).

I went through this tortuous exercise just as a backup. Hopefully, the damn thing will just pop. I have antibiotics which I'm taking already anyway.

IT'S A LONG WEEKEND FOR ME, I HAVE A NEW GUITAR, AND MY HEAD HURTS! IT HURTS EVEN MORE WHEN I CONTEND WITH STUPIDITY.

IF I get treatment there, they'll invariably start sending me nasty letters, which I'll ignore, and have them send the claim to wherever they're supposed to (it's not my job to fix their fuckups). They won't want the measly allowance participating providers get. While medical debts can impact your credit score, that normally happens when the provider turns your debt over to a collection agency, who, in turn sells the debt to another collection agency, and on and on.

My health insurance is awesome. Few providers don't participate. I probably received over a $100 grand in care last year, with 4 eye operations (glaucoma).

My dental health went to hell, when I had kids. I was too tired to floss, brush, etc after they came. My dentist, who used to always commend me on my dental hygiene, said he sees this all the time. Obviously, kids cause cavities.

It's always better to save a tooth, when possible. But this is the last straw for this tooth. THREE root canals, multiple crowns. While I don't look forward to oral surgery, this is just a pita. It's my next to last tooth in the rear. Actually, frequent deep cleanings by..forget the specialist that does that, would help, but I can't find a decent one. It's the damn food that gets under my gum in that area, because I have gum recession partly due to all the damn crowns I keep getting, and food getting trapped in there.

Hopefully, things will calm down for you. I can take LOTS of pain, but dental pain is a killer for me. I'm not really feeling dental pain. I feel pain where the abscess is. If it gets ripe today, I'm popping that sucker. I slept about 5 hours, after being awake for about 20, so I'm exhausted.

I would go to ER and have it popped. And get a anti-biotic. Those things suck.

HEY! I didn't think of that! There's an urgent care center near me. I'll give them a call.

I would not call an urgent care center. No telling what some dumb fuck on the phone will say. If you call, it's not urgent. Just show up.

If Nancy would start using Fresh Cut Flowers you would even have this issue.

Man I hear ya, me wasn't kids, but just lackadollaritus that caused me to forgo regular dental stuff. Now I'm paying the price, literally and figuratively (no insurance eek).

Sheesh man, I feel for ya, I'm the same way, mouth pain is way worse that other pains. I hope you get that drained, popped, nuked, etc. something to help!

Mine is the upper left, last molar, but I still have my wisdom teeth so it's actually 2nd to last too in that respect.

I don't blame you, I'd get that ripped out too, I might even consider doing the 'Castaway' treatment! (Movie, Tom Hanks tooth scene).

Heal up dude, get that better!

My teeth are pretty decent but I have had two pulled long ago. Same story, they would not hold a crown and I got tired of buying them.

I don't have dental insurance at all anymore but the last year I have had 3 crowns replaced. The dentist seems to be fair. Last time I had two done at once and if I used Care Credit which gives you a year to pay the cost was something around $1800. I did not have my card that day and when the girl called she said, they need to talk with you. I said to hang up I would just use my ATM. So she says, oh you get a discount then and it came to $1400. Did not understand that but I did not complain at all.

No go. It's considered "dental."

I've had worse pain, but this is just really distracting. I had my son take a close-up pic, and it looks disgusting. I noticed the crown doesn't go under the gum line. At minimum, I foresee a new crown with my regular guy- but that means next week.

Damn, I was gonna give my regular guy a call yesterday, but got caught up in work nonsense, and it wasn't that bad during the day, but I knew it was brewing.
