At the end of the day, its how YOU feel about it that matters, nobody else.
+1 I totally agree. It is your guitar, do what you want with it.

In the demo, it is noticeable that the pickups are muddy in the cleans. I'm not happy with it. I think pickups has to go first. Electronics seem to be working well for now. I'm getting Chinese Donlis pickups so its not much of an expensive upgrade, then I'll keep it that way for awhile.

That is a really good looking guitar! Our guitars are brothers, yours is the newer version.

Artec has good pickups for your guitar if you're on a budget.

The track is really raw. Please excuse me for it. I'm redoing it for a final version. I'll probably do it in drop B.

Enjoy!

The guitar sounds OK to me. I think pickup upgrades would improve tone a little but it's only a small difference. Those pickups that you mentioned don't have a very high output. I define high output as over 14K ohms resistance.

You mentioned p90 pickups. The YouTube videos that I saw of Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 models with p90 pickups sound good to me, but that's more of an AC/DC type sound, not djent. I am tempted to buy one of the Special 2 guitars with p90s.

The neck clean sound is muddy. I'm definitely changing it.

I ordered a black P94 neck for only $15 from Guitar Madness. It's a humbucker sized P90. It has high regards at the Epiphone forum. I'm still searching for a cheap but good and hottest humbucker bridge preferably rails coz they're perfect for bends and worry free for string pole spacing.

Over at the Epiphone forum, they said that even the cheap mods have good electronics. So, I'm keeping them for now.

Do you know what year that guitar was made? You can look up the S/N to determine that. I've read that around 2010 or 2011, Epiphone started using much better pickups and electronics. The pickups on my LP Spec II sound great, not muddy at all. It's a 2017.

I wanted to document this modification project on YouTube. My son helped me out come up with this video. I hope you guys take some time to watch so I can add up the views stats. If it is not too much, I hope you guys can subscribe too. Hopefully, I can turn my channel into a little earning one day. Enjoy!

I edited and re-arranged the track by the way.

You really need to take the neck pup out.
