Force yourself to continually write songs. The more songs you write, the better chance you'll have that one of them might actually be good.

The only thing that has ever worked for me is whistling and humming. If you can come up with a catchy melody that you can whistle or hum, it can be turned into a cool song.

I think we need a pinned thread with tips on how to write lyrics.
Whenever I try, it ends out sounding like crap. Oh and, do you guys write the lyrics first or come up with the melody? OR BOTH. =P

Life can be utter bull. so we gotta make the best of what we can. If something annoys me, i'll write a paragraph about it, then take the words and arrange them into a nicely flowing order to form lyrics. this is how a bad life situations can be turned into something beautiful. music.

Yes, to go against convention.
Haha.

But yeah, I'm a teenager and I write happy songs...sometimes...the thing is, that when I write songs I'm nearly always trying to vent frustrations or put bad feelings onto paper so they're not in my head, so most of my songs are pretty dark.
